Youth - the blind bridge one crosses over a precipice
filled with sharks of every kind, arriving on the receiving bank smooth skinned and blissfully unaware of any peril.
Peril - the omnipresent reality of the daunted; contrast the impossibility of danger for the
by-nature-or-foolishness undaunted types.
Foolishness - Fun in all its glory; full of risk and ribald humor. Conservatively, the path to doom. Liberally, the path to fulfillment.
Fulfillment - a state in which one has nothing further to wish for, good, bad or indifferent.
Indifference - the absence of caring whether this happens or that, whether he or she, you or I, with
"I" powerless to affect the outcome and unattached to same.
Outcome - what you hoped would eventually happen, the opposite of what your opponents hoped for. A
glorious moment, followed by more hard work to maintain your brief triumph, and good luck with that.

Give me your feedback on these. I'm also thinking of a "Bridges" poem for the Monday prompt/submission opportunity, linking these definitions.

Greta, this is a really cool response to the prompt and a neat idea. A few specifics
Youth. The syntax is a bit scrambled here. The modifier "arriving" seems lost in this sentence. I'm more a stickler about this sort of thing than most, but I wonder if the adjective, blind, is misplaced. It's the "one" who is blind. Of course, we do talk about blind curves and blind alleys -- which means that one is blind to what lies around them or at the end of them, so maybe this can work! It suggests, though, that one is blind to what lies on the other side of the bridge. Too, a precipice is a high point or brink, and can't be crossed or filled with anything, including sharks. I think you mean that the bridge is above a body of water of some kind that's full of sharks. I"d delete "of every kind" or replace it with something more descriptive. (Maybe the bridge is over a river full of alligators or crocs?) Peril. I didn't really understand this one. I think a concrete example would serve better than "omnipresent reality." The rest are similarly abstract, rather than concrete. I have a hard time visualizing. I do like this idea a lot and the way the definitions seem to be interconnected via the "begin with the ending" technique. My main recommendation would be to use more images, concrete nouns. Toni |

Well, I'm coming in late on this, but I agree with what Toni had to say. I do love the way you connected one definition to the next and wonder if you
couldn't make it circular in some way, leading us back to the first. Hope this is not too late to help. I'm working on a bunch of last minute
submissions as well.
